STEPHANIE NEUMAN, MSW, LCSW
I have been a trauma therapist for over 10 years. I found my passion for changing lives while working as a police officer and detention officer for over ten years. I am committed to helping others change their life in a more positive way.
I utilize Brainspotting and EMDR to help clients find relief and joy quicker than they could have imagined. Therapy doesn't have to be about a long term relationship with your client. With me, you will find relief and then enjoy your life. I will be there as needed once you have reached your goals
On June 27, 2006 my life as I knew it changed. I was eight weeks into my patrol career when I was involved in a critical incident. Still on FTO (field training), I was riding around with my trainer taking the regular calls for service.
As I was finishing up my current call I heard a "man with a gun" call go out over the radio. In an effort to show courage and impress my FTO, I advised Dispatch I would take the call.
With only the bad guy hurt, I returned to the department to experience the aftermath of a critical event with no peer support and no administrative policy ensuring I would be taken care of.
How do you connect
the head and the heart?
I have spent many years asking this same question. I have found two methods that allow a person to connect their head (thoughts) with their heart (feelings). These processes are Brainspotting and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Both methods allow a client to process traumatic events in a rapid, effective way that offers privacy and efficiency. The methods enable the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere of the brain to interact and communicate while being mindful of what the body is experiencing.
MIND
Often times we think about something that is going on in our lives and are able to rationally think about it with our heads.
HEART
The problem comes in when we start listening to our hearts.
RESULTS
The key to effective therapy is connecting the head and the heart so they are on the same page!
Therapy is no longer just about building a relationship with a neutral person to talk about your feelings.
It is now about changing your life and then living it.
